Rimmel London | Stay Matte Primer, Foundation + Powder

Thursday, July 31, 2014

Rimmel's Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation has been my holy grail make up item for the longest time now! I can't remember exactly when I started using it but what I do know is it was in a little glass pot and, I think, it was called dream matte mousse, and as you can see from the photo's, it's definitely not in a pot anymore!

Rimmel's Stay Matte Liquid Mousse comes in a 30ml tube and it's lasted me months and months! It's looking a little bit sorry for itself now so I think a bit of a beauty splurge is needed, but none the less, it's lasted an insane amount of time! I find that this foundation applies effortlessly and feels really nice and light on my skin. I'm sure you remember the "ditch the cake" adverts! I've used foundations before that have honestly made my skin feel heavy, here I go again with the strange "terminologies", but this foundation honestly feels so smooth and light, I can't fault it!

I'm not too sure on the science behind it but Rimmel say that it has "all day shine control" and it does! I have an incredibly oily t-zone and this foundation really helps to keep that at bay for a good 6-8 hours! I use the shade Ivory #100 and it's a perfect match for my skin. I feel that it gives a medium coverage which is just enough for me! An absolute bargain really at just £5.99! If you haven't invested in this foundation yet, what are you waiting for?

Next up, let's talk primer.. i'm actually beginning to think I should have written the primer paragraph first. Let's just go with the flow. Rimmel's Stay Matte Primer was actually the first primer I ever bought myself and i've had others since, but none of them compare to this bad boy. For one, it doesn't feel like silicone, honestly the feel of most primers makes me want to vom. Rimmel's Stay Matte Primer has a moisturiser like consistency. I only laid my eyes on this baby at the beginning of this year and i'm so glad I did. For one, it's added hours to the length of time that my make up actually stays on my face and, my favourite part, it minimises the appearance of pores, hallelujah! Sometimes when i'm having a lazy make up day, I just wear this product on it's own to hide those pesky pores. Another staple and great bargain at £5.99

Last but not least is the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. Now, I know most people just use the "translucent" shade but I decided for those days when I need a really high coverage, a coloured powered on top of my foundation would be best. I wear the shade, Sandstorm #004. Another product that I sometimes just wear on it's own but teamed with Rimmel's Stay Matte Mousse Foundation and Primer, it's a dream! Apparently it has natural minerals in it and honestly, I don't know much about minerals but what I do know is that it's not as harsh on your skin. Another great thing about this product is that it's free from parabens! You can read all about parabens here, nasty chemicals! Basically it completes the whole matte look and i'd be lost without it. Definitely a product to keep in your handbag! It's currently available for £3.99.

As is evident in the photos, all three of these products are very loved and i'm sure i'll continue to love them and use them for a long time to come. So have you tried any of the Rimmel London Stay Matte products? What did you think? If you've not used them before, are you planning on doing so now? Let me know!

My Current Favourite Drug Store Lipsticks

Tuesday, July 29, 2014
So, over the last two years, i've become some what of a lipstick/lipgloss hoarder, I honestly just can't help myself. I thought i'd do a little post on some of my favourites at the moment. This is a post that i've seen a lot of people do recently(i'm guessing it's down to Zoella's post?) and being the lipstick loving lady that I am, I thought i'd throw my 10 pence in.
Just a little apology for the photography, it will get better.
The first lipstick is actually the most expensive in this post, but let me tell you, it's well worth it! I found myself with Max Factor's Lipfinity in the shade #340 when my fantastic mumma received it in a free gift box after she spent a few pennies in boots! Hands down this is one of the longest lasting lip colours I have ever owned! As you can see above, it comes with a lipgloss/lipstick and a top coat. You first apply the "lipgloss" which after about 30 seconds dries to a lipstick, does that make sense? I hope it does! Then you go ahead and apply the top coat, which just feels like a lovely, moisturising lip balm! This shade is beautiful and perfect for spring/summer time! It's a lovely peachy, coral shade that I think it would suit most skin tones. There are so many shades available, I can't wait to get more! These little bad boys are available from boots for £10.99 each.

Next up is a lipstick that everyone needs in their handbag! Rimmel's Lasting Finish lipstick in shade #206, Nude Pink. Such an easy shade to wear and the shine is incredible! Deffo more of a subtle, natural shade but I think it's still a really flattering colour and again, a shade that would suit pretty much anyone! There are definitely hints of peach in the mix but still a very pretty pink. Not brilliant staying power but super easy to apply so popping it in your handbag is a must. Grab yourself this shade now for just £4.99.

This dark red/pink shade is probably my all time favourite lipstick! I find that for the price, £2.99, Collection lipsticks are such great quality. They're super pigmented and last a fair while too.  Although I do find that the shine wears off after a while but the colour seems to stay put. This one in particular is from their Gothic Glam range which consists of three shades, which include this one Seduction #1, a dark plum, Scorned #2 and a deep blood red shade, Revenge #3. I wore this a lot during winter but I find that it's also a great colour to wear on a night out through the summer months for something a bit more bold and daring! These lipsticks have a lovely sweet scent to them, i'm not sure if that's valuable information for you when choosing a lipstick but I just think it's an added bonus, haha! They're very creamy in texture and aren't drying at all! A complete bargain at £2.99!

Another Collection lipstick now from they're Lasting Colour Range. This is quite a daring shade for me as it's super orange(for me anyway, but it's nothing compared to Topshop's infrared) and of course, orange tones bring out the yellow in your teeth, yuck! But if i'm having a particularly good "teeth day" I love it! From the shade to the subtle golden shimmer it has in it, it's a beautiful summer shade for those who like a pop of colour. Another bargain at just £2.99.

Last but not least is another nude shade, this time from Rimmel's Lasting Finish By Kate collection, in the shade #03. To be honest, I can't even remember when I bought this, but recently i've found myself reaching for it in the morning's. Another super easy, subtle shade to wear on a day to day basis. It has a super creamy texture and applies really evenly and again, this lipstick has a lovely sweet scent! I'm definitely going to be ordering some more shades from Kate Moss' line for Rimmel, i'm all for a glossy, smooth finish!

What are some of your favourite drugstore lipsticks at the moment? Have you tried any of these? Let me know below!

Quote of the Week #40

Monday, July 28, 2014
"Storms don't last forever."

This is something i've always tried to tell myself. Sometimes you just have crap days, in fact sometimes you just have crap weeks and maybe the reason for that is beyond your control, but you need to put this little quote to the front of you mind. As always, if you're having a bit of a rubbish time at the moment, save this to your phone and set it as your wallpaper so you'll have a constant reminder that it will be okay.

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you enjoy your day!

Polyvore Style Board | #35

Thursday, July 24, 2014
Dress | Sunnies | Sandals | Headband | Bag | Socks

I can't believe it's been almost two months since my last polyvore post! How did that even happen?! In all honesty, I don't think anyone's missed this post, but I really enjoy writing it so it's back and it's staying!

How perfect is this little skater dress? From the collar to the skater skirt, it's just a dream. I think this is one of those items that could be easily dressed up or down, but today I decided to keep it casual and more for day time wear, but I think you could easily pair it with some killer heels and some chunky statement jewelry for a more glammed up evening look! Grab it in the Lipsy sale now for just £21!

With these posts, I like to try and keep everything "in budget" and relatively affordable, but these Tom Ford sunnies were way too beautiful to leave out this week. Coming in at around £230, they're deffo more of a splurge when you've saved up some of your pennies. On the website, the colour is "pearl opal yellow" which in my head translates to "pretty, pretty, pearly colour," and, "why don't I have the money to buy you?"

If you'd have asked me a year ago if I liked these sandals, i'd have told you to shove 'um, if you've been a reader for a long time you'll remember this hate post I wrote about them. But, a year on and having to see these sandals on every other person's feet, i've actually grown to like them and now fancy a pair for myself, strange how the table's turn, isn't it? If I remember correctly, I think I said that the JuJu jelly sandals should stay locked away in the attic or something silly like that, but now i'm reaching for the ladder to bring them down! They're just so effortlessly cool and from what I can remember as a child, super comfortable! This pair in particular are currently available on Asos for £25.

I'm also most certain i've blogged about this little headband before. I really do believe that even a simple little floral headband/crown can make your outfit 100% more summery! Don't you? This one in particular is just £14 at Accessorize.

Let us all just take a few moments of our time, to admire the glory that is this daisy handbag.. Me + daisies = true love, c'mon with a name like Maisie I can hardly avoid them can I? Speaking of which, I met a little Scottish girl called Maisie yesterday, we shared a moment of shock. Nasty Gal have so many great pieces on their online store, so it's no surprise that this handbag is one of theirs. You can grab this right now for £45.

So what do you think of this outfit? Would you rock it? Let me know!
