20 Reasons Why Autumn Is The Greatest Season Ever!

Wednesday, September 30, 2015

It's really no secret that autumn is my favourite season, so for today's blog post, I thought i'd share 20 reasons why this is the greatest season of them all!

1. The good ol' cliche sound of leaves crunching under your feet. Something about this sound is so nostalgic for me and I absolutely love it. This will be my first autumn back in England for a good few years now and I'm already far too excited every time I see a tree beginning to change!

2. Hot beverages. From hot chocolate to hot frothy coffee's, there's nothing better on a chilly, blustry day to warm yourself is there?! Also, as it's colder outside, it means more time sat in coffee shop window's, people watching, which is one of my all time favourite past times.

3. Baths. I'm a bath lover, although fun fact; I used to hate baths, boom, and as autumn comes around, so do more baths and so do seasonal bath and body products which excites me to no end, did someone say snow fairy? I know that's a Christmas product but shh it's out already!

4. You can eat hot soup without sweating your tits off. Soup is probably my favourite comfort food at the moment, there's not much a hearty soup can't sort! At the weekend I made a scrumptious carrot and coriander soup, you can find the recipe over on my Instagram, cheeky little plug, no shame

5. HALLOWEEN! Surprise surprise, she's an avid lover of all things Halloween! That's right folks, Halloween is the bee's knee's and if anyone tell's you they don't agree they're either a, lying or b, boring, sorry i'm not sorry. So with Halloween on the horizon, that means...

6. Pumpkin carving! If you've not tried your hand at it before, I highly suggest that this year be your first! Although, the small of fresh, raw pumpkin can be unpleasant, don't say I didn't warn you.

7. Bonfire night! There's nothing I dislike about the 5th of November. You've got the sparklers, pretty much all the hot beverages, cheap junk food, the cosiest get up and of course the bonfire! I've not had a proper bonfire night in years as it's not as big of a deal in Gibraltar, so this year i'm making a point of going all out!

8. Autumnal colours. In nature and in fashion, the burnt oranges and deep reds, some of my favourite colours come around this time of year and it's ever so pleasing!

9. Starbucks have really awesome coffee cups. I'm personally more of a Costa coffee kinda girl myself but man, are Starbucks's cups adorable this year! I'm sure you've seen them on everyone else's Instagram but just in case, here's my insta take on them!

10. Cinnamon. Cinnamon everything, everywhere. Chai tea latte's, cinnamon scented candles bigger than my head, car air freshers, the lot. You name it, if it smells of cinnamon i'll probably buy it.

11 Dew covered cobwebs make great arty Instagram photos, right?!

12. You don't have to feel bad about staying indoors and/or in bed for long periods of time as the weather can be pretty harsh outside. Even if it's sunny, it's still cold, so that's a really great excuse to write the day off and spend it having an AHS binge, right?

13. Then on the other hand, there's just something about walks through fields/parks in autumn that's so romantic. Preferably early in the morning when you get that fog hovering at the bottom of the road. Do I sound 100% nuts yet?

14. Fluffy dressing gowns, blankets and slippers. Basically everything big, warm and cosy.

15. Ye old faithful boots (probably Chelsea) start making their appearance again. Sure, boots look cute with play suits in the summer but then your feet get all hot and sweaty and then you'll probably end up with a fungal infection and they're really not that nice, trust me. In turn, this means goodbye sandals and open toed shoes, which IN TURN means you basically don't have to paint your toe nail's again until like.. March

16. No-Shave-November or Mo-Vember comes around, which means beards, beards everywhere, hola. Plus, it's all in aid of a great cause so it's a win win for everyone

17. Apple's and sweet potato's are in season and they're both lush, so winning.

18. Oh, I can now wear Elizabeth Arden's Ultra Violet on a pretty much everyday basis and it won't look odd. Praise the heavens.

19. Christmas is well and truly on it's way! You can't escape it, it'll soon be everywhere, in fact I've already seen the Christmas cards on the high street, eeeeeep! I can almost taste the mulled wine!

20. Overall, everything is just better in autumn. Everything looks, feels, tastes and smells better. I love autumn!

So there's my 20 reasons why autumn is the greatest season ever, what's your favourite thing about this season? Let me know!

Boots Essnetials Cucumber Skin Care | Wash, Scrub + Toner

Tuesday, September 29, 2015

I first tried some Boots essentials products a couple of years ago, but I didn't really pay much attention to their effects or anything like that. I think i'd picked them up on a trip home to my mum's when i'd not brought my usual skin care products with me, because my brain has and always will be a sieve. Upon my arrival back in sunny ol' England, I was in Boots picking up some essentials(read re-purchasing my foundation and shower gels etc) and as I've been pretty strapped for cash recently, I thought i'd grab a couple of items from the Boots essentials skin care range and give them a proper go.

I picked up three different items, hooray for the Boots 3 for 2 offer, the cucumber facial toner, the cucumber facial wash and the cucumber facial scrub. All of these items were £1.50 each and with the 3 for 2 offer it made the total of all three items just £3!
I've previously used the boots essential's cucumber facial toner and after repurchasing it recently, I think it's safe to say that it's my favourite toner right now. Not only does it smell delicious, I really like the scent of cucumber, but it feels so refreshing on the skin! If you've been reading Love, Maisie for a while you'll know that I use my Garnier Micellar water on a day to day basis and I highly recommend it to everyone, even those with sensitive skin, but you'd be amazed at how much of a difference also using a toner makes to your skin! It leaves my skin feeling super refreshed and snatches up the last bits of dirt and makeup. I even feel as though the tone of my skin has improved over the last couple of weeks!

I hadn't used the Boots essential cucumber facial wash or scrub until recently and I really do rate these two products as highly as the toner! The facial wash feels silky soft on my skin and leaves my skin feeling the super smooth too. The facial scrub is again, lovely and refreshing and it makes for a nice gentle face scrub. Although, as it is quite gentle, I fear that if you have super dry skin, this might not quite do the job as thoroughly for you.

All of the above products are supposedly suitable for all skin types. I have rather oily skin and I find that these products don't cause any excess oil build up or have any sort of oily residue, nor do I find them at all drying. My skin can sometimes be fairly sensitive too and I haven't had any adverse reactions from any of the three products, so overall, they're all winners!

I'd highly recommend these products to anyone looking for some basic skin care on a budget. Have you tried anything from the Boots essentials cucumber range? Would you rate it? Let me know below! ♡

Quote of the Week | #59

"You cannot always wait for the perfect time, sometimes you must dare to jump."

How is it Monday again already? This month has flown by and I can't believe it's almost over. I seriously feel as though someone has pulled September from right under me!

I picked out this quote as it felt pretty relevant to my recent choices in life. Sometimes, there just isn't a perfect time to do something and you can wait and wait for it to come by but trust me, it probably won't. If you want to do something in life, for you, then do it, right now. Get up right now and make it happen. You are in control of your life and there isn't anything or anyone that can stop you from doing something that you want to do!

If you're reading this, I want you to comment below one thing that you would really like to do and what exactly it is that you feel is stopping you from doing it! Then I want you to erase all of it and go out and do it! Oh and don't forget to keep smiling ♡

Sunday Style Board | #42

Sunday, September 27, 2015
I know, I know, the last Polyvore style board post was last October, holy wow, but i'm bringing it back around now, just switching up the title a little!

Still leaning towards the autumnal side of the spectrum but with more neutral and earthy shades. First up is this grey drapey sweater/jumper from Victoria's Secret. Even though this is already a lose fitting item, i'd probably size up for extra comfort, I do love a big baggy jumper. You can grab this online in a choice of 7 different colours, for just over £33.

I love how other people pull off boyfriend jeans but I still haven't found the courage/confidence to try them myself? I just feel as though they'd make me look frumpy! This pair are actually the boyfriend angie pair from Mango and i'm super tempted to grab them. I think it's probably the distressed/decorative patches that have me tempted! Currently available online for £39.99.

I've lost count on how many time's I've featured or talked about white converse high tops on my little corner of the internet now. They just look awesome with everything, can't stop won't stop. My friend Naomi actually posted an Instagram photo a couple of days ago pairing her boyfriend jeans with some tan block heels and I adored it! There's another look idea for ya! Converse will usually set you back somewhere around the £50 mark. Grab them at Office today for £47.99.

A couple of years ago I had a real issue with snoods. I just didn't like them at all, in fact, I used to rip in to my bestie for having one. But of course, things change and so do we and now I think they're the bee's knee's, hot damn. This faux fur snood from Accessorize is absolutely gorgeous. As the website states, it'll add that little bit of glam to your look.. it looks oh so cozy too, oh my! You can purchase this online now for £29.

I'm getting back into backpack's at the moment and this one from H&M is a great staple. With simple silver detailing, it'll go with absolutely any outfit and it's 100% more practical than any teeny tiny handbag. Well, when you carry around the amount of unnecessary crap that I do! Also available in tan, both online for £24.99 each.

We all know that I love a good parka, so this one is no exception. At just under £30 it's a total bargain too! I think that this really brings the whole look together. Overall, a super casual day time look that can be re created using simple basics/staples that you probably already have in your wardrobe!

So what do you think of this look? Will you be rocking it? Also, are you glad to see Polyvore/Style Board Sunday's back on Love, Maisie? Let me know!

Hot Right Now | New Look

Friday, September 25, 2015
Scarf | Jacket | Shirt | Dress | Cardigan | Pumps | Boots | Coin Purse | Watch

There are so many great, affordable brands out there, both on the high street and online, so I thought i'd start a little series of posts called Hot Right Now, I'll be choosing my current favourite's items from my current favourite stores! Let's get started shall we!

Seeing as the first official day of Autumn was a couple of days ago and it's also my favourite season, all of today's picks are super autumnal, much like my last style post

Scarves. We'll all be digging them out sooner or later. I did have a brief look at my little collection a little while back and it's in desperate need of some new pieces! I'm not usually one for yellow but as I mentioned a couple of weeks back, I've really been liking the look of deep yellow's and mustard this season. On the New Look website this chunky, checked scarf is described as lime, I'm not quite sure I can agree with that, oops? Available online now for £14.99.

As we've been making the transition into autumn, I've been seeing camel trench's everywhere! This one's a pretty good bargain at just £39.99, in comparison to some high end brands. I think these little jacket's will be making an appearance in many people's autumn wardrobe's this year, don't you?

I love a good checkered shirt, I almost picked one in up in Topshop a few weeks back but managed to resit the temptation. They've been around forever and they always make a great staple. This one from New Look is currently available online for £22.99.

Let's get a bit sexy shall we? This burgundy bodycon dress is not only gorgeous in colour and style, but it's also a FIFTEEN in one multi way! You read that right, 15, boom, for £27.99 that's not bad at all is it?! This piece will take you into the festive party season too! Pair it with a little black cardi or even an over sized cape and a pair of sparkly stilettos and you're set!

Speaking of cardigan's, check out this over sized Aztec printed waterfall one. This lose fitting cardigan looks like it'd be super comfy for the colder months, throw it on over a seemingly plain outfit to spruce it up a little! Grab it online now for £30.

How adorable are these t-bar pumps?! Maybe not 100% autumn/winter appropriate but cute as hell. £15.99 and they're yours!

Chelsea boots are always a winner, aren't they? I'm yet to purchase a brown pair but I think these might have to just slip and fall into my basket and straight onto my feet. Chelsea boots go with pretty much everything in my autumn wardrobe so they're certainly another staple that I need to get my paws on. This pair are currently available online for £24.99.

Last but not least are two super duper adorable accessories. This Fairytale coin purse and this pink skinny strap watch. I love anything remotely princess/fairytale themed and as much as I really don't need this purse, nor do I know what I'd even use it for as I've never used a coin purse, I still want it! And as much as i'd love a Michael Kors watch, the price tag on those babies is considerably higher than a high street purchase. This dinky little thing will only set you back £12.99!

So there we have it! Which of my current top New Look picks are you lusting over? Let me know below!

Quote of the Week | #58

Monday, September 21, 2015
"Every story has an end, but in life, every end is a new beginning"

So, as some of you may be aware, I recently made the decision to relocated back to the UK, so here I am writing this blog post in my parents living room and honestly, it feels super surreal still. I've been back in the UK for almost a week now and I still can't get my head around everything?!

The long and short of it all is that I've wanted to move back to the UK for quite some time now but it was never really a possibility until fairly recently, so I grabbed the bull by the horns and decided that I would get up and go, so that's exactly what I did! I'm not going to go into too much detail but I just wanted to share this little information with my lovely readers and share this quote with you all too.

So here's to new beginnings, watch this space, cheers everybody!

A Very Autumnal September Wishlist

Friday, September 04, 2015

Hello internet! Can you tell that i'm buzzing for a/w yet? Coats, beanie's and deep berry shades, did someone say Autumn? As i'm writing this, i'm currently in a tee and shorts and still sweating beyond belief, I am so ready for the next season, come at me!

First up, let's talk coats. I love coats, to the point that two winter's ago, I spent nearly £100 on one, which is something I never thought I would do, hashtag still in love with it. This trench coat/blazer isn't really one for actually keeping your warm but it does look dreamy! It's actually in two pieces, you can click through to the site to see it in better detail, but I reckon i'd keep the two pieces together at all times. It's from a website called that I hadn't heard of until today but it's full of really great pieces! This coat will only set you back £33 and i'm pretty sure the site ships worldwide!

Beanie's? Beanie's. Basically I just want to hide under a beanie all winter because a, warmth and b, they're cute, right?

I remember the first time my mum took me to M&Co in Tewkesbury and I was like, oh my dear lord, why are we here, but over the years they've had some pretty lush pieces. I just found this handbag on there and I'm really tempted to try and get it, I don't think they ship outside of the UK though, and it's all justified because my favourite handbag broke and i'm still kinda sad about it. This bag is available now for £32.

I've been all about necklaces this summer and this one is just so dainty, I love it! I have a similar one with a circle that I picked up in Primark earlier this year, for just a pound might I add, but this triangle one is just super cute and I really don't know why! It's available online for just under £19.

This next item isn't really "me" BUT i'm all for trying out new things so these bad boys might just have to slip and fall into the basket. I'm still trying to figure out what i'd wear these fringed heels with, if anyone has any suggestions, they'd be greatly appreciated. Grab them for yourself now, available online for £44.99.

Next up is my favourite item in today's post, these gorgeous boots, oh MY! Are they not amazing?! You can pair them with pretty much anything whether it be tights and a little smock dress or a shirt and a pair of jeans, they'll look great with both. My wardrobe consists of mainly black so I could probably get away with wearing these boots on a day to day basis, winning. Grab them now from New Look for just £24.99!

Last but not least is this perfectly autumnal berry shade lipstick by Bite Beauty. The shade is appropriately named Frozen Berries and I'm dying to get my hands on it. It's a matte lipstick which i'm still not 100% sure look right on me or not but I don't think I care about the consistency and finish all that much because the colour is drop dead gorgeous! The link I've used is to Sephora but i'm sure there are other stores that stock this brand, but please forgive me if i'm wrong! It's actually free from paraben's and sulphate's too which is a bonus!

So there are some cheeky little wishlist items for this month! What are you lusting over this month? Are you excited for autumn? Or are you wishing summer would last a little longer? Let me know!
