Tickled Pink Fancy Dress Challenge

Friday, December 18, 2015
A couple of week's ago, Tickled Pink Fancy Dress got in touch to see if I wanted to take part in their fancy dress challenge. It's me, so of course I couldn't say no! I love any excuse to dress up, especially if it's fancy dress attire!

So I had a good browse over the website and chose my favourite outfit, which is this gorgeous 1920's inspired Fever Flapper Dress*(£19.99)! For those of you who don't know, I adore the 1920's, I actually styled one of my textile's coursework's around that roaring time!

This gorgeous black and purple flapper dress also come's complete with a sequined headband with a massive feather on it(love) which I think really helps to complete the look! I styled my costume simply with black tights, black heels and a purple and grey beaded necklace that I found in my mum's spare room!

As for my hair, long hair in the 20's wasn't really a "thing", but I thought i'd still leave mine down and just curl/wave it a little, jazzy yeah

Obviously, during shooting these photos I had to have a bit of a swishy-swoosh because.. just look at how fun it is! (Read; please appreciate this gif I made as it took a really long time to make it and it was really frustrating, almost to the point of crying, thx)

As for the sizing, I ordered a medium (advertised as a UK dress size 12-14) and it fits really comfortably. I'm a UK 8/10 and I really think this dress would fit anyone in those four sizes as it's lose fitting and the material is stretchy.

I absolutely adore this costume and now I wish I had a party to wear it to! (hint hint, if you're having one, hit a girl up) If you are headed to a fancy dress New Year's party this year, or any other fancy dress party, then why not check out Tickled Pink Fancy Dress. You can bag yourself 15% OFF your order by using the code SANTA15, woohoo!

What do you think of my costume? Will you be dressing up any time soon? Let me know!

Portivo Lounge, Gloucester | #FOOD

Thursday, December 17, 2015
Last week, myself and Jack had arranged to see each other on Sunday, so on Saturday evening in my true lastminute dot com self, I decided to have a browse online and see if there were any cafe's or restaurants in and around the Gloucestershire area that catered to Vegans. I didn't have to spend too much time looking, as I found Portivo Lounge's vegan MENU and almost exploded with excitement! I know it might sound really sad, but I find it really hard to go out for lunch/dinner where I live without just having the side salad (it gets really boring).

So off we trotted to Gloucester Quays! We parked in the multistory that's attached to the quays shopping center, which is super duper handy! I hadn't been down to this area for years so I was super impressed with how fancy it all looks now, so so pretty and festive at the moment! Okay let's talk Portivo Lounge. As soon as we arrived, I fell in love with their decor! Think shabby chic mixed in with 1920's vibes, absolutely gorgeous! Unfortunately, they don't take table reservations, so as it was a Sunday and so close to Christmas, I was feeling a little anxious, but we managed to grab ourselves a table upstairs no problem. They have a large seating area downstairs and a fairly decent sized area upstairs too!

Like I mentioned before, alongside their full regular menu, they also have an entire vegan menu, so we were spoilt for choice really. They even have breakfast options which are available to order all day! Everything from chimmichuri mushrooms to giant salads and a vegetable curry and it all sounds so delicious! Even though we had both checked out the menu online, we spent a good ten minutes reading over the menu again to make our final decision!

In the end, I decided to go for the Falafel Ciabatta(£5.50), Jack chose the Falafel Burger(£8.50) with extra avocado(£1.50) and we also ordered Sweet Potato and Basil Falafels with chimichurri(£3.75) on the side, because who doesn't love a good falafel overload!

We were both super hungry so the food seemed as though it took forever to arrive but in reality it only took around 15 minutes at the most. Let me tell you, describing our food as delicious is an understatement. I'm no food critic so excuse my epic descriptions, but oh my dear lord it was glorious

Errrmmmmm, nom! Both of our main meals came with chips and houseslaw(which I wasn't too keen on but I'm not too keen on it's contents anyway) and I'm being 100% real here when I say that I'm salivating writing this post out! My falafel ciabatta also came with spinach, roasted red peppers and hummus. We reckon the falafel's were homemade as they were so tasty!

Jack's butternut squash and nutmeg falafel burger came with wood-roasted red peppers, tomato chutney, red onion and rocket and was served in a sour dough bun. We both tried a little of each other's main and I honestly don't know which I think I liked best, they were both just so scrummy! The chimichurri falafel's were tasty too, i'd never tried chimichurri before but I already know that i'll be ordering the chimichurri mushrooms next time I'm down at Portivo Lounge!

Our total bill with a couple of soft drinks came to around £23 which I'd say is a really good average lunch bill price, wouldn't you? I was certainly full up on falafel!

I absolutely adored all of the deco and the entire interior to be honest. I already can't wait to head back for another lush vegan meal. I think I might even be cheeky and shoot an #ootd inside! Oh, just a note, they also have a cocktail menu, so I double can't wait to go back one evening!

Overall, this is the perfect little spot in Gloucester for a bite to eat, especially if you're vegan! Really great value for money, a cute cosy setting and right in the heart of the Quays! Their main regular menu looks yummy too and I'm sure it's all delicious! Have you visited Portivo Lounge in Gloucester before? What did you think? Let me know!

Christmas Wishlist | Beauty

Tuesday, December 08, 2015
Christmas is well and truly on it's way and I am so excited for it this year, as it's the first year i'll be back at home for the festivities in years! Seeing as I love creating beauty wishlists and beauty products and Christmas are two of my favourite things, I thought it'd be the perfect opportunity to share a Christmas beauty wishlist here on the blog! Hopefully, if you're wanting to pick something up for your beauty obsessive friend or family member, this post will also give you some ideas!

First up, there are two items from the Maggs London store/collection. If you're not familiar with Maggs London, It's Hannah Michalaks very own makeup bag collection. Obviously, I had to include their brand new High Hopes brush roll (£37.95) because it's gorgeous, but choosing just one of their make up bags was so hard! All of their designs are beautiful and made with Liberty fabrics, but I thought The Little Moments (£26.99) print was super cute!

I've been using Rimmel London's stay matte foundation for years now and I think it's time for a change. Don't get me wrong, I still love my good ol' faithful, but I really want to try this Maybelline superstay 24 hour foundation! I've read some really great reviews over the last few months on the blogosphere, so I think it's about time I give it a go! Available in six shades from Superdrug for £8.99.

I've not worn false lashes in ages, but when I do, my favourite's are the Eylure 101's. They pack a load of volume and they're super sexy, perfect for nights out and I'm sure you all have plenty coming up during the festive period! They're easy peasy lemon squeasy to apply and I've not had one fall off in the middle of the night yet either! I highly recommend these to anyone, whether you're a devoted lash wearer or you've never worn a pair before. This triple pack is available in Superdrug for £14.25

I'm yet to try anything from Bobbi Brown but this skin care basics set looks and sounds lush! The set includes a makeup removing cleansing oil, skin brightening buffing grains, their hydrating face cream and hydrating eye cream! You save £11 buying these items as set so the total comes to £61. Bobbi Brown is definitely high end but judging by some of the reviews I've read, it's certainly worth it!

Another Bobbi Brown product that I've got my eye on is their Art Stick in the shade Rose Brown. A chunky lipstick pencil that's a very Kylie Jenner shade if I do say so myself. Again, I've seen nothing but amazing reviews for this product and I think this shade will compliment most skin tone's and is ideal for people who want to try something a little different but aren't too keen on a bold berry shade, which seems to be the go to for this time of year. Available online for £20.

As you all know, I'm a big fan of the model's own nail polishes. When I saw these speckled egg ones on the Superdrug website, I was only going to chose one shade for this post but I couldn't resit.. so I chose them all! These nail polishes are £4.99 each and come in five shades, which are all named after different birds, which I think is super cute, that include a purple, mint, yellow, pink and blue shade! I think these five little pots of beauty would make an adorable gift!

I'm totally in love with my Elizabeth Arden mascara, but like I said about foundation, I've been using the same one for so long that I fancy a bit of a change! This YSL Baby Doll mascara is not only packaged in the beautifully classic YSL signature style, but it sounds bloody great too! Of course, with YSL there's a hefty price tag, so this baby will set you back £25. If i'm lucky enough to get my hands on one, i'll let ya'll know if it's worth the dolla!

Revlon are always all over the blogoshpere and I've tried their ColorBurst Matte Balm's before and I really like the feel of them and the pigmentation is lovely too. This shade, Striking, is a perfect red for the festive season, right?! You can pick up Revlon products from pretty much anywhere, but the ColorBurst Matte Balm's are available in Boots for £7.99 each.

There are currently some really great offers on at Superdrug and one of them is this Real Techniques brush set. It's down from £ 99.99 to just £66.59! A perfect starter brush set for any beauty lover, it comes complete with ten brushes and a black, sleek carry bag too! Deffo adding this to the list of things to treat myself too!

Last but not least is this Soap and Glory Sugar Crush body wash. If you fancy some salivating, go over to the boots website and read the description! I've smelt this in store and omg it smells delicious! This 500ml bottle is £6.50. That might seem like a lot for a shower gel but it is a massive bottle, over double the size of most body washes!

So there we have it, my Christmas beauty wishlist/gift inspiration! I hope this has helped at least one of you if you were stuck on what to get your beauty obsessed friend/sister/girlfriend! What are you asking Santa for this Christmas? Let me know!

kick ass vegan superfood balls, love maisie, indigo herbs
When the lovely people over at Indigo Herbs got in contact with me and asked if I'd like to work with them on their "Kick Ass Vegan Smoothie Mix" campaign, I couldn't say no! Indigo Herbs are a company whose mission is to empower optimum health by inspiring people to take responsibility for their own wellbeing. They do so by making excellent quality herbs and superfoods available and affordable!

This year, Indigo Herbs are actually sponsoring VEGANuary.com, which is a campaign that inspires and supports people trying out a Vegan lifestyle for January! As I'm sure you know, I'm a Vegan myself and have been solidly since September this year, and vegetarian for almost 9 years, so if any of you are reading and are interested in trying out a Vegan lifestyle, I'd love to know/help you out if I can! kick ass vegan superfood balls, love maisie, indigo herbs
Indigo Herbs kindly sent me their 100g Kick Ass Vegan Smoothie Mix* (£6.99) which they co-created with Sam Taylor, who is a plant based, international bronze medal winning, martial artist! This particular superfood mix is high in protein, dietary fibre, vitamins A, E, C and B2 and is also high in calcium, magnesium, iron and zinc. This blend is 100% certified organic and is made up of Spirulina powder, Maca powder, banana powder, Chlorella powder, Chia seed protein, pupmkin seed protein, Wheatgrass powder, Moringa powder, barley grass powder and Baobab powder. Yes, it is very green!

Indigo Herbs asked me to create a recipe using their superfoods mix, so with the help of Jack, we managed to put together these delicious and super easy to make, vegan superfood balls! To make 12 servings you will need:
  • 90 grams of crushed rolled oats
  • 1 large banana
  • 1 serving (15grams) of the Indigo Herbs Kick Ass Vegan Smoothie Mix
kick ass vegan superfood balls, love maisie, indigo herbs
That's right, just three ingredients! Simply crush/blend your rolled oats and mix/mash them together with your banana before adding one serving of the superfood blend! Once all your ingredients have been thoroughly mixed together, grab a small amount of your mixture and roll to form a ball shape between your palms. Repeat this with all of your mixture and voila! There you have it, 12 portions of delicious vegan superfood balls that are packed with great vitamins and protein! You can easily make these superfood balls 100% organic so long as you buy yourself organic bananas and oats too!
These Kick Ass Vegan Superfood Balls look like algee covered golf balls BUT they taste sweet and delicious and make for a perfect breakfast on the go or as a snack a little later on in the day! I had loads of fun creating this little recipe for you all, I can't wait to hear/see if you try it out too?! Have you tried anything from the Indigo Herbs range before? Let me know!

Online Avenue are an online men and women's shoe retailer that stock gorgeous an affordable footwear! I was delighted when I received an email informing me that they'd be sending me a pair of their gorgeous heels, I think I actually squealed!

Dress - Dorothy Perkins (old) | Shoes(c/o) - Online Avenue
I was lucky enough to receive these Itzel Retro-Look Metallic Strap Court Shoes* in a gorgeous almost baby pink shade. They're available online now right here in a choice of six different colours for just £23.99! (Including black which I think I might just have to add to my now ever growing list of things to buy myself haha!) I decided to style these amazeballs heels with one of my favourite dresses of all time! I picked up this beauty in Dorothy Perkins a couple of Christmases ago and wore it as my "New Years Dress" and since then, I've styled it differently for different occasions!
Pink Online Avenue Shoes ootd love, maisie
Yes, the shoes are incredibly high, but they're actually surprisingly comfortable! They have a large platform(2 inch) at the front of the shoe, which makes the heel(6.5inch) height not seem/feel as scary! I really adore the chunky gold ankle strap, I think it's what makes these shoes that extra bit special! They zip up at the back of the heel which makes me feel a bit more supported, which is comforting y'know, when you're struttin' your stuff, six and a half inches higher than usual.

I think these Online Avenue shoes would also work really well with some boyfriend jeans and a plain white top, don't you think? Let me know if and how you've styled them so I can have a look!

I also really love the look of the Ivette Cut Out Lace Up Heels, like ohemgee gorgeous! Have you purchased anything from Online Avenue before? What do you think, are you as in love with your tootsies as I am?! Let me know!

Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro 2 Palette | Review + Swatches

Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro 2 Palette
Back in October, I was lucky enough to win a giveaway that Jemma over at Dorkface ran. One of the gifts was the Makeup Revolution Iconic 2 palette and let me tell ya, I've been all over it. Made up of SIXTEEN gorgeous matte and shimmer shades from taupes to peaches and greys to a deep plum shade, there are so many looks you can create with this palette.

These eye shadows are really long wearing, even the lighter shimmer shades, and are really easy to build and blend on the lid. The palette also comes with a double ended brush which really, isn't amazing but it's usable and handy to have, but I have mostly been using my Zoeva brushes to apply these shades.
My favourite shades to use are Only(on my inner corner), Chase(on the center of my lid) and Smooth(blended outwards) which I have used in this next photo. I think shades like Echo, New Day and Faith are perfect for the festive season, don't you?! I actually seem to be reaching for this palette more often than I do for my Naked palette, which we all know I've worn to death, 4789234 time's over, so I guess it's a good change from my regular eye makeup look, right?
If you follow me on Instagram(you can find out all the other makeup products used on Insta too) then you'll already know this but please excuse my eyebrows, I know they're in desperate need of a thread! Also, is it just me or do I look hella weird without my nose ring in?

So, it's safe to say that I absolutely love this palette and I can't wait to try more palette's from the Makeup Revolution range! I pretty much want them all! Have you tried any of their palette's? What did you think? Let me know! OH AND HAPPY FIRST OF DECEMBER!
