I'm sure you'll have seen lots of bloggers raving about this undoubtedly gorgeous highlighting palette over the last couple of months. So of course, I had to see what the hype was all about! From the luxury packaging to the shimmering highlight shades, I tell ya, I was not a disappointed lady!
On a recent trip to Superdrug to buy shampoo and conditioner, I stumbled across the Sleek counter and decided to scout it out. Boom, there it was, the Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette in all it's glory, starting at me, screaming at me to buy it.. so of course I had to buy it! £15 and £3 worth of Superdrug points later, I was back out of the shop, poorer, but richer in makeup, win? Yes. Of course.Ecliptic(Top left) | Hemisphere (Top right) | Subsolar (Bottom left) | Equinox (Bottom right)
So the Sleek Solstice palette consists of four shades, three of which are powders and one cream. I think the names of the shades are all epic too; Ecliptic, Hemisphere, Subsolar, Equinox. Each shade is specifically designed for an area of your boat race. Ecliptic is the only cream shade in the palette and is for highlighting your brow bone, it's a winner! I'd say an almost rose gold champagne kinda colour, basically, dreamy. Next up we have Hemisphere which has been designed to add shimmer to your cheekbones. It's certainly the most shimmery of all four shades so it certainly lives up to that! I find that my skin is naturally very red/pink so I personally love the purple tones in this shade!
Subsolar is specifically just for highlighting down the bridge of the nose, but I think it looks equally as gorgeous across your cheek bones, especially if Hemisphere is a little too shimmery for ya. Definitely the most subtle shade of the four in the palette. Last but not least, Equinox is for highlighting your cupid's bow. A peachy toned highlight that has a real bright shine to it! I find this shade pretty intense but it is the perfect shade for the cupid's bow.
Top trick, if you apply Equinox to the tops of your cheek bones, followed by a later of Subsolar over the top, it adds a glowy, bronzy highlight that really does look super summery, but not as orangey toned as Equinox on it's own! Of course, it's totally the wrong time of year to be thinking about summer, but it's certainly something to remember. Give it a try!
I find all four of these shades have lovely consistencies and are super easy to work with. They're certainly a grace added to my highlight collection! For £9.99, it's a pure steal too! I would highly recommend that you pop your socks on and hop into your nearest Superdrug/Boots and invest in this gorgeous palette. But hey, if you really do hate the colours(which I can almost promise that you won't) the packaging makes for a dreamy background prop!
