BEING KIND TO YOURSELF AS A BUSY MUMMA

Wednesday, June 28, 2017
If, like me, you're a new mumma, finding time to look after yourself can be really tough. What with trying to juggle looking after your little one and keeping your house from looking like a bomb site, we often forget to be kind to ourselves. If your baby is fed, clothed and clean, you're doing a great job! Today I wanted to write a post as a little reminder for you to be kind to yourself. This applies to all your ladies out there that are busy bee's, whether you're a mumma or not.
Finding the time to make the right food choices is challenging. You might think that being a vegan, I'm super duper healthy, but you'd be wrong. When Tyler's in the middle of a meltdown and it's 4pm and I still haven't had my breakfast, pringles and orange juice seems like a suitable meal, right? Wrong. If you struggle to find the time for food, then make sure you prep your meals when you do have a spare thirty minutes. You can pre cook lunches and dinners for the week and keep them in the freezer until you need them. If you're kind to your insides, you'll feel so much better and have more energy too!

Another way that you can be kind to yourself is by being kind to your skin and making sure you have a good skin care routine. Sometimes a lack of sleep can't be helped, 4 month sleep regression anyone? But ensuring you have some go to products at hand that you can quickly apply before bed each night and first thing in the morning will do your skin a world of good. Now, I'm no skin expert or scientist, but I'm pretty sure that being pregnant and giving birth and now being a mumma has really aged my skin. Neal Yard's Frankincense Intense Lift Serum has some seriously good reviews from the likes of OK! and Look magazine, so it's certainly something that I'm dying to add to my beauty regime. I like to keep my beauty and skin care cruelty free and you can be sure that Neal's Yard believe in those same ethics as myself as they are certified by Cruelty Free International and PETA.

Something that I am terribly guilty of is not giving myself enough credit, if any. Being a mum is tough and I really think that we should celebrate the little moments just as much as the big ones. For example, if I manage to get all of the housework done whilst looking after Tyler and write a blog post, I give myself lots of credit. However, if another day I only manage to do the washing up whilst looking after Tyler and nothing else, I put myself down. I'm going to start being proud of when I manage to accomplish little things too and I think you should join in! Showered today? Go you! Managed to do a load of washing? Hell yeah! Took your little one out for a walk to the park? You rock mumma!

So just remember, you're doing an amazing job! You don't have to have lots of time on your hands to be kind to yourself, just a short amount of time each day to tell yourself that you are amazing! And hey, in a couple of years, your little one will be telling you so too!
